Valerie Concepcion as the local Betty La Fea?

"Ang ganda talaga ng pasok ng taon sa akin!" exclaimed Valerie Concepcion during the press launch of her first major endorsement, a slimming pill called Slenda, at the 9501 restaurant of ABS-CBN yesterday, February 28.

She added, "Sobrang thankful ako sa ABS-CBN na talaga namang yung trust na binibigay nila sa akin, sobra, talagang iba."

Aside from her newest endorsement, Valerie is also happy that ABS-CBN is considering her to play the lead role in the Filipino adaptation of the Colombian soap opera Betty La Fea.

"Actually, kagabi [February 27], nabanggit sa akin na parang isa raw ako sa mga pinagpipilian. Pero hindi ko alam. Siyempre sana, sana matuloy, di ba? Kasi I'm excited na rin na makagawa ng soap dito sa ABS-CBN, so hopefully," said Valerie.

When asked if she is willing to become ugly in this project, the 20-year-old actress said, "Oo naman, pangit naman ako, e. Oo naman, maganda nga yun, e. Actually, isa yun sa mga gusto kong i-try, yung pangit 'tapos papagandahin ka, di ba?"

Valerie is clueless that Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez has also expressed her interest to do Betty La Fea. So, when the entertainment press told her about this, the young actress replied, "I'm honored and I'm flattered talaga. Kasi, actually, hearing about it last night sabi ko nga parang, ‘Wow!' At least, di ba, kahit hindi man ako mapili, at least alam ko na kasama ako sa pinagpipilian? Yun pa lang, big honor na for me."

Other actresses being considered for the Betty La Fea role are Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo, and Angel Locsin. Since Angel and Valerie are both under the management of Becky Aguila, the press asked Valerie if she would be hurt in case Angel gets the role of Beatriz Pinzon Solano, the main character in Betty La Fea.

"Ay, hindi naman," answered Valerie. "Ako ha, naniniwala ako sa sarili ko na kumbaga, if it's meant to be for you, it's gonna be for you no matter what happens."

So, does that mean Regine Velasquez is already out of the picture for the role of Betty La Fea?
